Wear what's comfortable and you can dance in! Our ceremony is outdoors in a natural redwood grove with a paved path to the reception area and dance hall. 🍂 October weather 🍂 By early October, the East Bay hits "Indian summer" where it can be 80°F at 2 PM and drop to 58°F when the sun slips behind the trees. Layer up: We recommend dressing for a warm afternoon but having a layer ready for the evening. Bring a pashmina, shawl, or light jacket to stay cozy during cocktail hour through outdoor dining and onto the dance floor!

Wear / weather

For our out-of-town guests, there are two primary airports you can fly into. Both are roughly the same distance from our hotel blocks in Emeryville, but the travel experience differs. Oakland International Airport (OAK) Pros: It is significantly smaller and easier to navigate than SFO. It's located in the East Bay so you avoid the $8 bridge toll and the unpredictable traffic of the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge. Cons: Fewer direct flights from some states. Best For: Guests flying Southwest (OAK is a major hub) or those who want a stress-free arrival. San Francisco International Airport (SFO) Pros: You're may find a more direct, competitively-priced flight to SFO. If you're planning a vacation, landing at SFO gives you that iconic "flying over the Golden Gate Bridge" view. Cons: To get to the hotels in Emeryville, you must cross the Bay Bridge, which can take anywhere from 30 minutes to 90 minutes depending on the time of day. Best For: Guests looking for cheaper/more direct flight options or those starting/ending their vacation in San Francisco. Tips for your travels Rideshare: Both airports have dedicated Uber/Lyft pickup zones. From OAK to Emeryville, expect a 20-minute ride. From SFO to Emeryville, expect 35–60 minutes depending on bridge traffic. Public transit: If you’re feeling adventurous, both airports are connected to BART (our subway system). You can take BART directly to the MacArthur Station, which is just a short Uber ride from the hotel blocks and other hotels in the area. Traffic: Traffic here hits differently. If you're landing at SFO between 3:00 PM and 7:00 PM on a weekday, the bridge will be a parking lot. If you can, try to land mid-day!

The Piedmont "Secret" Stairs: Piedmont is famous for its hidden public staircases that wind through beautiful estates and lush gardens. It's a great, low-impact way to see the architecture. Exedra Plaza &amp; Park: Right next to your venue. The fountain and manicured lawns are perfect for a pre-wedding stroll. Mulberry’s Market: A classic local spot to grab a high-end sandwich or coffee before heading to the hall. Redwood Regional Park: Just a 10-minute drive further up the hill. If your guests want to see "the big trees" without the crowds of Muir Woods, this is where the locals go. Mountain View Cemetery: Sounds odd, but it was designed by Frederick Law Olmsted (who did NYC's Central Park). The views of the entire Bay from the top are arguably the best in the East Bay.

Piedmont & The Hills (The Wedding Neighborhood)

Public Market Emeryville: A massive food hall with everything from world-class ramen to tacos. Great for groups who can’t agree on what to eat. The Marina Park Loop: A flat, paved path that juts out into the Bay. It offers a stunning, straight-on view of the San Francisco skyline and the Bay Bridge. Bay Street Shops: If anyone forgot a tie or needs a last-minute dress, this open-air mall is right next to the hotels. Pixar Animation Studios: You can’t go inside (unless you know a "Sheriff Woody"), but you can take a photo with the giant Luxo Lamp and ball outside the front gate! Trader Vic’s: The birthplace of the Mai Tai. It’s right on the water and feels like a vintage tropical time capsule.

Emeryville

Lake Merritt: The "Jewel of Oakland." Walk the 3-mile perimeter, visit the Bonsai Garden, or rent a pedal boat. Jack London Square: A historic waterfront area with great dining (like Farmhouse Thai) and the USS Hornet museum nearby in Alameda. Oakland Museum of California (OMCA): Specifically on Friday nights for "Off the Grid," which features dozens of food trucks, live music, and outdoor dancing. Temescal Alley: A tiny, hip alleyway filled with curated shops, a famous doughnut spot (Doughnut Dolly), and an old-school barber. The Grand Lake Theatre: One of the most beautiful historic movie palaces in the country. Even just seeing the neon sign at night is worth it.

Oakland

The Napa Valley Wine Train: For guests who want the "full experience" without driving, this vintage train restored from the early 20th century takes you through the heart of the valley while you dine. Castello di Amorosa: If your guests want a "wow" factor, this is a literal 13th-century style Tuscan castle. It’s touristy, but for someone from Texas or Iowa who has never seen a castle in a vineyard, it’s a huge hit. Yountville: This tiny town is the culinary capital of the world. Even if they can't get into The French Laundry, they can grab a world-famous croissant at Bouchon Bakery and stroll the beautiful main street. Skyline Wilderness Park: For the hikers in the group, this offers rugged trails with views that stretch all the way to Mt. Diablo on a clear day.
